You can see topics that are being searched and discussed the most at any given point in time and the tool allows you to find trending keywords to include in blog posts.

Today, search engine results are based on how often high-quality, authoritative websites link back to your website and may be the most important part of SEO. In fact, the more websites that link to your site, the higher your page will rank. The more trustworthy, non-spammy sites that link to you, the more authority you’ll have on the topic. If you’re new to the game, a great place to start is to leverage local partners or by creating a resource page on your site. Contribute to local blogs, and sponsor local events that cater to small businesses, both of which could provide you with an opportunity to receive brand recognition and a public backlink to your website.

Creating a local resource page provides useful information for small businesses in your area. If you’re a restaurant owner in Washington, D.C. you could create a list of the best places to source fresh produce or local breweries that you’ve partnered with in your city. Creating resource pages can capture the attention of businesses in the industry, publicize your own company, and improve your SEO.

  1. Claim and Optimize your Google My Business Listing

One of the simplest things you can do to improve your site’s local search rankings is claim your Google My Business profile. Optimizing your profile with updated categories, contact information, images and business hours can give you a huge boost in local search rankings and it’s free. Start by accessing this page here, register your business, and once you’ve completed the registration a postcard will be sent to your address to verify your listing. 

  1. Provide Fresh Content

The amount of time visitors spend on your website affects your SEO ranking so providing fresh content to them is key. When you provide relevant content to your visitors, they’ll linger so understanding your audience is crucial.  It’s also the perfect way to continue enhancing your company’s voice, share new offerings, update your clients on special deals and build a rapport with your community. Crafting blog content will influence your website more than any other factors. Tailoring content and keywords around heavily searched subjects can also increase your chances of popping up in Google’s first page search results.

Last but not least, while deciding on pages and subpages seems simple, building up your SEO takes time. It takes time for search engines to update their records since they crawl billions of websites. Results won’t be immediate so be patient because there aren’t any shortcuts. It can sometimes take up to six months to start seeing results!
